Like most people in Vancouver, I was shocked and saddenned by the fatal bus crash that killed 3 farm workers last week. For many, the crash highlighted the unsafe and exploitative conditions for farm workers in BC. This week, the government re-instated spot checks for vans transporting farm workers, which is a step (back!) in the right direction. I was wondering if as a consumer of local produce, I could do anything further.

Like most people in Vancouver, I was shocked and saddenned by the fatal bus crash that killed 3 farm workers last week. So, I wrote to SPUD, who deliver my organic produce box, asking them to help. You can read my letter below, and feel free to write or talk to your grocery store if you share my concerns.

boil water advisory

The boil water advisory is winding down.

Apparently the timing of this crisis could not have been worse. The City of Vancouver had plans to roll out a new campaign to promote tap water over bottled,

"The Greater Vancouver Regional District is planning a public education campaign to promote tap water over bottled. Directors decided just weeks ago to go to war against the water industry, condemning it for brain-washing the public into believing tap water is somehow contaminated." Read more
