Knowing that not everyone is as creative-capable, it's always good to have option. Just because you can't paint, sew or use a hammer does not mean you can't be part of the solution around the holidays.

Recycling aluminum cans is one of the easiest things to do (and best for our environment), but did you know every time your plane lands in Toronto Pearson Airport, none of the pop cans you consumed on the flight gets recycled? (so does all the other recyclable garbage) This is due to possible probability of cross-contamination of disease-carrying agent from one country to another.

It's almost here...

The date has almost arrived! In two days I'll be kick-starting my year of re-use. I will blog about some of the things that I do to reuse and changes I make in my daily life to incorporate reusing. I'd love to hear some ways that other people are reusing?

Committing to 1 year of purchasing reused materials only

Starting on April 18 (my 28th birthday) I am making a personal commitment to one year of reuse! This includes only purchasing items that are made of reused, reclaimed and/or recycled material (so mostly shopping at thrift stores when I need something). Attempting to reuse everything before throwing it in the garbage. This will hopefully lead to a lifetime of habitual reuse actions reducing my impact on the environment and reducing my overall consumption.

Mow Down Pollution is an initiative of the Clean Air Foundation and The Home Depot Canada. The program is designed to encourage and reward Canadians for permanently retiring their older, higher-polluting gasoline-powered lawn equipment. If you bring in your old gas mower, trimmer, hedge trimmer, blower or chainsaw to any The Home Depot location across Canada during the event you will receive an instant rebate on the purchase of an eco-friendly, cleaner alternative product. We will ensure that your old lawn equipment is recycled responsibly. No purchase is necessary to take advantage of the free recycling.
