For years the Spirit of Co-operative living has slowly slipped away from the members of my housing co-op. Now, we are wining back the hearts of our members.

Welcome to Co-op week on ChangeEverything.ca!

Here, we're sharing stories, pictures and ideas about what we think is possible when we co-operate and what it means to each of us to belong to co-operatives.

Read about what belonging to co-operatives means to the people in your community on the co-op week homepage,  then submit your own post about your favorite co-ops, your most memorable co-op story, why you belong to co-ops, what you love about them, what you think could improve about them heck you can even share what drives you nuts about co-ops! (make sure to tag your blog post!)

What community impact can our website hosting co-op have?

By collaborating as a co-operative we bring our collective expertise to each of our client's projects. That means we share website development capabilities as well as web hosting responsibilities. Since most of our clients are community-focused organizations operating on limited budgets this means our service allows them to get better websites at reduced cost and locally hosted.

We want to create reliable Canadian-based website hosting for community organizations.

Written by robinpuga

Our worker co-op (http://cantrusthosting.coop) seeks to create an affordable, full-service web-hosting platform tailored to the needs of co-operative, non-profit and charity organizations for whom access to such Canadian-based services is cost prohibitive. Our worker-owner members can greatly reduce future development and maintenance costs for our clients by collectively managing Drupal-based, template-driven websites.

Why do we want to do this? Our clients want Canadian-based website hosting they can trust and our co-op members want to pool their efforts to pass savings onto our collective clients. Together, we are creating solid web-hosting infrastructure in Canada and keeping jobs/money in our local community. It's win-win-win!

You're Invited!

Come and Join Hands for Co-ops
We're going to Circle City Hall.

What is a Flash Mob anyways?

It's a fast and fun meeting of a big group of people that seemingly emerges out of nowhere, and disappears fairly quickly.

remember the poor

We live in a brainwashed society. Just look anywhere and you'll see ads. Consume, consume, consume. Democracy is reduced to a pacifying term. (were you asked to vote re: our troops going to Afghanistan? Cutbacks to seniors programs, mental health?) Capitalism doesn't work unless someone is exploited. Frankly I'm sick of  living for self and I'd like to see people worse off than me get a "no strings" break
