Changing the World

'Net Neutrality' (the freedom of all users to have equal access to the internet) has become a huge and successful campaign in the States, but in Canada hardly anyone knows about it, or knows that what we all take for granted now is threatened.

Here are four things you can do:

1) Send people a link to this post and tell people to read the Tyee story: Canada Sleeps Through The War To Save The Internet
2) Blog it, link it on your website, put a link to it in your organizations' newsletter etc.
3) Visit Neutrality.ca - sign the open letter to the government of Canada in support of a neutral internet
4) Make it the top story at www.Care2.com (a really interesting online news network and social issues forum with over 6 million members). By 'noting' it, you can help make this the top story on Care2. (you have to be a member to 'note.' If you're note a member of Care2, it's easy to sign up

I remember when I was

I remember when I was working at Telus during the strike in 2005 and they blocked access to the site that the Telecommunication Workers Union created, I was shocked. It was so dramatically undemocratic. Now, that action has been cited south of the border as a worst-case scenario.

Thanks for bringing this to

Thanks for bringing this to my attention. I didn't know about much about the issue but I sure do have a bug up my butt about Corporate greed. Business is here to serve people, not people to serve business. Where did that very human principle get lost?

There are banners that can be post to sites to spread the message about net neutrality. I saw that on the page where the online petition can be signed. Can one of those banners be included on this Vancity sponsored changeeverything.ca site?

 Best wishes,
